Evan Weaver is a renewable energy developer, specifically as a Senior Project Manager at NextEra Energy Resources, with an emphasis on early-stage development in South Texas. With a strong background in the energy industry, Evan's previous experience includes working on late-stage development projects in the Northeast. Before joining NextEra Energy Resources, Evan held the position of Project Manager at Norwich Solar in White River Junction, VT, where he successfully managed various aspects of engineering, procurement, and construction for commercial scale solar projects.

A New Hampshire native, Evan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Saint Anselm College. He served as an active-duty Army Officer from 2010 to 2019. Evan has had multiple deployments to Afghanistan and operational support in Kuwait, showcasing his dedication to serving his country.

Upon leaving the military, Evan continued to expand his knowledge and skill set through executive education courses at renowned institutions such as the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Additionally, Evan earned his Masters of Business Administration degree at Babson College in 2022, where he further demonstrated his leadership abilities as the President of the Babson Veterans Club.

During his active-duty service, Evan spent the majority of his time with the 1st Infantry Division, Army Materiel Command, and 10th Mountain Division.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I could have any superpower, I would definitely choose telepathy. I can’t imagine a better superpower than the ability to communicate and connect and be present with people at that level at all times.

What are you most excited and concerned about in advanced energy developments?

In terms of advanced energy developments, I'm most excited about the opportunities for growth in the industry and the potential for emerging markets to flourish. The constant adaptation in this field keeps me eager to witness the innovations that lie ahead. However, I do have concerns regarding the implementation of transmission policy and needed growth, and how it will be effectively rolled out to ensure smooth progress in the sector.

How did the military influence your career trajectory into energy?

The military greatly shaped my career path in the energy industry. Being in the military taught me how to handle a wide range of tasks efficiently and effectively, making me a versatile professional in the energy sector. The massive range of opportunities in the energy industry in some ways mirror the opportunities in the military and the impact on a local and a national level is hard to find in other jobs or careers.

Why is energy important to US National Security?

Energy is absolutely crucial to our national security as it underpins every aspect of our society and economy. From powering our homes and businesses to fueling our transportation systems and military operations, a reliable and secure energy supply is essential to ensure the safety, stability, and prosperity of our nation. Without sustainable, secure energy, our national security would be compromised and we would struggle to meet the needs and challenges of the modern world.

I highly recommend exploring opportunities in the energy sector. With my own experience, I can attest to the excitement and fulfillment it offers as a rewarding career choice.
