With unwavering dedication, she served as an Aviation Maintenance Administrator at New River Air Station, stationed near Camp Lejeune. In 2009, Samantha was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Al Asad Air Base. After four years of honorable service, Samantha left the Marine Corps as a Sergeant (E5), filled with pride for her accomplishments and ready to make a difference outside of the military realm.

She simultaneously served as the President of Vets 4 Vets, a student organization that provided invaluable support for military veterans attending the university. Under Samantha's leadership, Vets 4 Vets transformed into an advocacy group that focused on creating positive change for military veterans. Through their efforts, improved benefits and increased support were provided to veteran students, making a lasting impact on the university community.

In 2013, Samantha graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Policy, specializing in Climate Change. However, her commitment to public service and leadership did not end there. She pursued an Executive Master of Public Administration at Ohio University's Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, all while working at the US Senate and raising a child. If I could have any superpower, I would choose the power of stealth. Being able to move undetected and blend seamlessly into my surroundings would give me the ultimate advantage in any situation. What are you most excited and concerned about in advanced energy developments?

I am most excited about the vast networking opportunities that advanced energy developments will bring, as it allows for collaborations and knowledge sharing. However, I am also concerned about the potential lack of in-person interaction that may arise as Advanced Energy continues to evolve, as face-to-face connections are crucial for building strong working relationships.

The military played a crucial role in shaping my career trajectory in the energy sector. Through its rigorous training and experiences, I was able to develop strong leadership skills and a sense of responsibility. These qualities have been instrumental in successfully navigating my job and overseeing various aspects of my business.

Why is energy important to US National Security?

Energy is vital for various aspects of our national security. It is necessary for our military operations, infrastructure, and communication networks to function effectively. Additionally, a secure and reliable energy supply reduces our dependency on external sources, safeguarding our nation and strengthening our security.

I strongly believe in advocating for our fellow servicemembers. I would highly encourage all veterans to confidently promote their veteran status, as no one can speak to our capabilities and experiences better than we can.
